Greetings from Central Florida and welcome to Gang Greek.com. My name is Anthony Eliopulos but most of my friends and associates call me “The Greek”. I am a competive bodybuilder in the Orlando area. Many people myself included feel that the Central Florida area is one of hottest spots on the planet for bodybuilding. One of my purposes for this website is to report to the rest of the bodybuilding world just what exactly is going on down here in the center of the sunshine state. The site includes a forum, guestbook, and my personel blog. I have lined up some knowledgeable people in bodybuilding, power lifting, mixed martial arts, sports medicine, and sports journalism to not only moderate the site and forum but post regular articles. I as well as many other competitors will post daily routines, diet, and contest prep so you as a reader can follow us step by step as we prepare for the upcoming contest season. I hope that you enjoy everything the website and the forum have to offer.  I have tried to take everything I like from the forums that I visit and custom blend them into something that I think will be an entertaining, worth while web surfing stop.

Thank you and welcome to Gang Greek.com.

My thoughts on Brock Lesnar and his fight with Randy Couture

I watched the fight card Saturday night and here are my thoughts on the main event: I thought the fight was going just as Couture wanted it. He for the most part was controling the clinch against the fence. This is where Couture wears his opponent down and lands uppercuts. When he was on his back he was able to get up with out any damage. I thought by round 3 Lesnar would gas with this Couture would of been able to stand in the pocket and let the hands go. Couture wasn't able to do this with a fresh Lesnar for fear of his shot. Everything was going according to plan when Couture got caught with the elbow. That was the shot that did the most damage, the shot later that dropped Couture almost looked like it grazed Couture shoulder before landing on the side of his head. That is part of the game though, the big winner is Dana White. He hates Couture and now Couture can go away forever with a loss. He doesn't have to hear about or fight in court that Couture is the best in the world and not fighting in the UFC. He won't care now if Couture fights "The Tough Guy Challange". That being said Lesnar is a problem for anyone but If the fight were today these are 5 guys of of the top of my head I see getting him fairly easy. 1. Fedor: Fedor might be the most well rounded fighter ever. He is much better then Lesnar at everything but wrestling. Unfortunately for Lesner it is not just a wrestling match. Fedor knocks him out if the stand in the first round if Lesnar takes it to the ground he taps in 1 minute if Fedor takes it to the ground 30 seconds before he gets Lesnar to tap. 2: Big Nog: Yes Nogierra Lesnar might beat on him for awhile but I don't even think he could do that. For Lesnar to do that he would have to be on top. That's not easy with one of the best grapplers/submission guys in the world. Big Nog submits him easily and at worst case for Big Nog he takes him into deep water, the championship rounds, tests his cardio, and then finishes him. 3. Andre Arlovski: The Pitbull hits and kicks much too hard for Lesnar. I understand that Lesnar will try and drop him on his head but he would have to do it fast before inside leg kicks chop him down. Lesnar is no where in AA's league and when AA is on not many are. If he beats Fedor in January I won't be shocked. 4. Tim Sylvia: Not as big a Lesnar but big enough that he won't be thrown around. He would hurt Lesnar with his stand up and neutralize him on the ground. 5. Roy Nelson: Big Fat guy that is very underrated. His ground game is world class and his stand up is dangerous. He has some wrestling skill so it's not a gimme that Lesnar drops him on his head. If Lesnar does take him down well he just took down a large man with world class Jits.

My gosh Marilyn is smoking!

Well I have been married to my soul mate Marilyn for over 15 years and I have alway found her to be very attractive... well actually absolutely sizzling but sometimes when you get so wrapped up with you're own body and bodybuilding that you almost forget how great you're girls body can be. Well since my retirement from bodybuilding Marilyn has decided to compete next year in Figure. Of course her diet and training is being done by Phil Hernon but we decided that after all of these years we would train together. So after Phil put together a little pre diet for her to get down to 114LBS from 122LBS we decided to start her contest journey. Part of the process of contest prep is picture taking this of course is done so you know where you are at with you're prep. While taking these pictures of Marilyn I am really starting to realize just how smoking and genetically gifted she is. Training with her has really been uplifting I am working harder in the gym then I had in sometime. She is really getting after it and pushing the pace. I predict she will do very well, watch out Florida figure girls. Here is Marilyn on the left starting her prep at 114LBS back on 10/11/2008 and a few weeks later at 111LBS. Her back is already getting leaner with more muscle. Her butt and hamstrings are getting quite shapely already after a few weeks of hard training. The last photo is the double bicep. Her arms will probably be the last things to come in but they are going to look unreal when they do. Her biceps are big already and when leaned out they will really compliment the physique. Big key here is great genetics, her shoulders are wider then her hips this is very rare for a female and she has a tiny waist. She is paying her dues training hard with heavy weight and eating right the rest will be her genetics taking over. I have given Marilyn her own page on the site and she will be developing it and keeping it updated with her progress. Stay tuned and good luck Marilyn.

Hey Greek, how did you do in the contest and when are you going to update the site?

That's a question I get on an almost daily basis. I left everyone hanging with my contest eve post and I never returned. Well if there is anyone left on the planet yet that doesn't know I didn't win the Lakeland Classic back in September. I finished 4th of 8 competitors in the Light Heavyweight class. I weighed in at 195LBS to drop into the light heavies. I was disapointed in the results but I am over it now. The Tuesday after the show I weighed about 230LBS I am sure that kind of weight fluctuation would be shocking to the Jenny Craig's of the world have but this is bodybuilding and none of us do it for our health. Here is some action from the contest the guy on my right I finished ahead of, the guy to my left finished one slot ahead of me.

You can see more photos of the contest with the following links:

Contest Eve

Well here I am it is Friday night Sept 12. My 16 week contest prep is coming to an end tommorow with my participation in the 2008 Lakeland Classic. It has been a very rough contest prep right up until the end. I fought through personel problems that made me want to drop out more then once. During the prep I also turned 40. This was by no means an enjoyable prep, the diet was brutal and I have to say that I am pretty sure that after the show tommorow in Lakeland no one will probably ever see me on stage again. I started out at 242LBS back on May 24. As of right now I am probably 200LBS. I cut my water today at noon so by the time that I weigh in tommorow morning I am sure that I will be amongst the Light Heavies under 198 1/4LBS. Thats right no water from 12:00PM Friday until about 10:00PM Saturday. I am ready to have a nice steak and french fries Saturday night after the show. Sunday will be a day of cooking out, burgers, hotdogs, chilli and all things I have been deprived of all summer. Until we meet again I be in the light heavies and I will let you know how things went.

I am back and in good spirts

I know I have been away for awhile but I am back now. I have had some personal problems that I have been fighting and am still fighting as well a whole host of lifestyle changes that I will go into further detail later. The important thing is that I am back and ready to rock. I still have been preparing for my contest in Lakeland on the 13th of September and I am very much looking forward to not only doing it but getting it over with. I started at 242 and I am now down to 208 and still sinking. I hope they let me in the door in Lakeland and not make me buy a ticket not believing I am actually a competitor. We have added a couple of additions to are family 2 beautiful Sable German Shepherd puppies. I will go into more detail later but lets just say we have all fell in love with Shiloh and Shatzi. They look like little wolves with their silver sable coats but they have a very impressive bloodline. Big thanks to the breeder Jen Funas and Furnas K9 for hooking us up. Like I said I will get more into them and their breeder later. They are so smart and so eager to please I am really getting attached. On the family side my daughter has started High School and my sons are now in Middle School all this happened the week of August 20th which incidently I turned 40. My love Marilyn is still involved in real estate (her new revamped page will be up soon) but she is also doing some work for Lifestyles Family fitness more details and her new page coming later. I have switched Gyms I am now over at Orlando Barbell. This is a hardcore powerlifters paradise and not really a bodybuilders gym so I am still getting used to the atmosphere. I do like the owner Pro Powerlifter Brian Schwab I real pro and good guy. That is pretty much it for now. I have put up a new recipes page and I will be adding to that. As always many more things are planned to enhance the site. Keep an eye on the contest prep page to see how my progress is coming and stay tuned to how I do in the show. Until we meet again I am the guy wearing the River Run 8K shirt that they don't let in the door at Lakeland.
